What are the inspection methods for metal stamping parts?


Metal stamping is a forming method of applying external force to sheets, strips, pipes and profiles by means of presses and dies to cause plastic deformation or separation, thereby obtaining workpieces (stampings) of desired shape and size. Stamping and forging are both plastic processing (or pressure processing), collectively called forging. The stamped blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheets and strips.

The inspection of stamping parts is basically the same as other products. First of all, there must be an inspection standard. As a reference for parts inspection, the inspection standards for stamping parts can be used as follows:


  1. Parts drawings/inspection guide (standard) book: some simple stamping parts can be inspected by comparing the various dimensions marked in the drawings, so QC must first read the drawings, which is the most basic skill, followed by various The use of measuring instruments, the most basic tape measure, caliper, micrometer, chart, pass and stop gauge, etc.


  2. Special inspection tool: This is relatively simple, according to the actual situation of the parts, it needs to be used skillfully.


   3. Sample parts: For some parts without inspection tools but with complex shapes that cannot be expressed in two-dimensional drawings. This is more intuitive, and it is enough to be carefully compared to the inspection.


The above are the inspection standards. After meeting these, it can basically be used as a beginner's inspection. Other aspects cannot be expressed on the drawings. You need to be familiar with and experience in the stamping process. For example, you can get one. For parts, the master can immediately know where to focus, where problems are likely to occur, what is the possible cause of the problem, what will be the impact on the subsequent process and the entire part, what will be the impact on the mold, how to adjust, and what to let What are the production line personnel focusing on and so on. These cannot be explained in one or two sentences, and require a lot of experience.

Take export-type metal stamping parts as an example:


Inspection standard for ordinary cold stamping products: general dimensional tolerance requirements +-20 wire (0.2mm), deburring, etc. Surface treatment and other test standards such as salt spray test should be given by customers.


Precision stamping parts are generally processed by CNC or laser cutting, and the tolerance will require about +-5 wire (0.05mm), and other standards other than burr removal are required to ask customer requirements


Sometimes customers need you to provide matching fasteners, these standard finished parts have GB or other standards such as American standard, Japanese standard, German standard and so on.
