Compound Stamping Die For Round Electrical Motor Laminations

A compound die works differently from a progressive die because the cutting of the outside shape and the inside holes happens at the same station. This keeps every feature on the disc in the same position, which matters for motor balance. The sheet is placed flat on the die, and the upper punch comes down once to complete the part.

The inner punches for the slots are mounted on a plate that can be taken out from the top. If a slot shape changes, the factory only needs to replace that punch set, not the whole tool. The die block has hardened inserts around the cutting edges, so the sharp edges last longer even with coated steel sheet.

Scrap falls through the lower shoe into a chute that can be connected to a scrap conveyor. This keeps the working area clear and reduces the time spent cleaning around the press. The finished lamination slides out to the side on a small ramp, making it easy for the operator to stack them in bundles for the next process.
