High-Speed Progressive Die For EV Battery Tray Components

Battery tray parts are long, thin and easy to distort if the die lets the strip move between stations. Our progressive die uses guided pilot pins at every station to lock the strip position before any cutting or forming begins. This simple mechanical method keeps hole-to-edge distances stable across the entire coil, even when the material thickness varies slightly.

Aluminium behaves differently from steel during stamping. It tends to stick to the die surface and can tear at high speed. We address this by polishing the forming inserts to a mirror finish and applying a hard coating to the cutting edges. The result is a cleaner sheared edge and fewer stops for die cleaning during a production shift.

The die base is a single cast block rather than a bolted frame. That design reduces flex under high-speed press forces, which directly extends tool life. We test every progressive die at our facility using the same stroke rate your press will run. You get a video of the test run and a strip sample before shipping, so there are no surprises when the die arrives.
