Large appliance housings, such as the side panel of a washing machine, are too wide to run through a progressive die strip layout. A transfer die solves this by using mechanical arms to move the part from one station to the next. The part is not attached to a strip, so the die can handle panels that are wider than the press bed itself in the strip direction.
Transfer dies are more forgiving of material variations than progressive dies because each station operates on a fully positioned part rather than a strip under tension. This makes them a good choice for pre-painted or coated steel, where the coating can be scratched if the strip drags across die surfaces. The transfer arms pick the part up cleanly and place it into the next station without sliding contact.
We design the transfer mechanism with adjustable stroke length and gripper timing, so the die can be tuned to match the speed of your existing press line. The forming stations use standard insert blocks that can be shimmed or replaced individually. If a single station wears out, you replace that insert instead of refurbishing the whole die, which keeps maintenance costs predictable over the tool's life.
