Material & Controlled Failure Mechanism

Manufactured from C45 medium carbon steel (normalized and machined), or for higher repeatability, from case-hardened 20MnCr5 with a defined notch.

The "V" notch is precisely CNC turned, and its depth is correlated to a specific shear area, ensuring the block fails in brittle shear at the set load.

Preventative Function in Die Protection

Mounted between the punch holder plate and the upper die shoe, the block carries the stamping force. In an overload event (e.g., a misfed double blank), it fractures instantly.

An embedded breakage sensor (inductive proximity switch) detects the separation and sends a stop signal to the press emergency circuit within 15 ms, halting the ram before any tooling collision.
