Optimization and Reliability Improvement of High-Speed Stamping Die Manufacturing Process

High-speed stamping dies are widely used in the mass production of automotive parts and home appliance hardware, with stamping frequencies reaching 50-120 times/minute. The rationality of their manufacturing process and operational reliability directly determine production efficiency, die life, and production costs. This article, based on practical production experience, elaborates on optimization schemes for the manufacturing process of high-speed stamping dies from the entire process of materials, processing, assembly, and maintenance, improving die reliability and adapting to the needs of high-volume, high-efficiency production.
Optimizing material selection and heat treatment processes is the core of improving the reliability of high-speed stamping dies. High-speed stamping dies are subjected to high-frequency impacts and frictional loads for extended periods. Key components are made of high-strength, wear-resistant alloy steels such as H13, SKD11, and DC53. Incoming raw materials must undergo flaw detection to remove inclusions, cracks, and other defects. A composite heat treatment process combining vacuum quenching, deep cryogenic treatment, and low-temperature tempering is employed. The quenching temperature is controlled at 1050-1080℃, held for 2-3 hours, and the tempering temperature is 200-220℃, stabilizing the hardness of the parts at HRC58-62. This balances hardness and toughness, reducing the risk of impact fracture and wear failure in the mold.


The application of advanced machining technologies is a key factor in optimizing the manufacturing process. High-precision five-axis CNC machining centers, precision cylindrical grinders, and slow wire EDM equipment are used to process key parts such as mold punches, dies, guide pillars, and guide sleeves. Dimensional accuracy is controlled within ±0.005mm, geometric tolerance ≤0.003mm, and surface roughness Ra≤0.025μm. The introduction of a CAD/CAM system integrates mold structure design, toolpath programming, and machining simulation, optimizing design rationality, reducing machining errors, shortening the mold manufacturing cycle by 20%-30%, and improving processing efficiency.
