This mold shapes a thick steel blank into a roomy toe cap that fits wider boot lasts comfortably. The draw radius is carefully optimized to avoid cracking the high-carbon steel during the severe forming process. After forming, the edges are trimmed sharp in the same station. Each cap comes out with a consistent curvature and even thickness distribution.
To resist abrasive wear from hardened steel blanks, the mold cavity is coated with a hard chrome layer. The mechanical ejector system pushes the cap out immediately after the press ram retracts, with no manual prying needed at all. This keeps the cycle fast and the operation safe for the press operator.
