Clamping & Retention Parameters

Retains punches up to 25 mm shank diameter, with a holding force of 1.5 kN per ball cluster. Axial pull-out resistance tested at 8 kN.

Positional repeatability after 5000 punch changes: less than 5 µm radial displacement.

Component Materials & Durability

Retainer body: SKD11 cold work tool steel, hardened to HRC 60, with a black oxide finish.

Locking balls: solid tungsten carbide (grade C2), spherical tolerance ±0.001 mm. The spring stack uses chrome-silicon alloy wire for continuous spring force over years of operation.

Precision Manufacturing & Quick-Change Mechanism

The internal bore is jig-ground after heat treatment to guarantee an H6 fit with the punch shank. Balls are arranged in a 120° pattern, pressing into a precision-ground "V" groove on the punch.

Changing a punch simply requires pushing down a release collar with a standard tool, which withdraws the balls, allowing the old punch to drop out and a new one to snap into place. No screw threads are involved, eliminating galling.
