High Wear Rate and Short Service Life of Die-Making Vulnerable Structures

The punches, dies, cutting edges, and guides of precision medical stamping dies are core vulnerable structures, subjected to high-frequency impact, sheet metal friction, and alternating loads for extended periods. Medical stamping often uses stainless steel and ultra-thin precision sheet metal, which has high hardness and poor fluidity. The forming process continuously generates cutting and friction on the die's forming surface. These operating conditions directly accelerate wear on vulnerable parts, leading to problems such as edge chipping, surface scratches, and increased clearances.
Inadequate material selection, heat treatment, and surface treatment process control further exacerbate wear on vulnerable structures. Some die materials are not matched to the forming characteristics of medical sheet metal, residual stress from heat treatment is improperly controlled, and the hardness and toughness ratio of the matrix is unbalanced. The forming working surface lacks effective reinforcement, resulting in insufficient anti-friction and anti-galling properties. Under continuous stamping conditions, the wear process accelerates, shortening the overall effective service life of the die.


Wear of vulnerable parts in the die directly triggers chain reactions in production. Misalignment in the fit clearance can cause dimensional deviations in parts, increased burrs, and decreased surface quality, necessitating frequent downtime for maintenance and replacement of spare parts. Frequent mold repairs and part replacements disrupt production continuity, increase spare parts consumption and labor maintenance costs, and repeated disassembly and adjustment can easily accumulate assembly errors, reduce the long-term precision of the mold, and restrict the stability of mass production of precision stamping.
